Trees of Knowledge: Roots and Routes – CFP

Dear colleagues,

On behalf of the English Department at Plovdiv University, we have the pleasure of inviting you to contribute to the Festschrift volume Trees of Knowledge: Roots and Routes in honour of Associate Professor Michael Grancharov on the occasion of his 70th birthday.

Michael Grancharov has been a moving force in creating the Department of English Philology at the Paisii Hilendarski University of Plovdiv and in shaping it as a Head of Department (1994-2000 and 2010-2014). He is a well published translator from English into Bulgarian and his academic research is in the field of English Syntax (Functional Sentence Perspective and Generative Grammar). His monograph, Синтактични средства на функционалната изреченска перспектива,  локализиращи комуникативно-информационния фокус на изречението в модерния англиийски книжовно-литературен език, 15-20 век (Пловдив: 2010), introduced the topic for the first time to the Bulgarian reading public.

To honour Michael Grancharov’s academic achievements, we welcome contributions in any area of Linguistics, Literature, Culture, and Translation Studies. The thematic range of the volume is meant to elaborate on the dialectic of tradition and change, on past developments and future perspectives, but also on present-day branches in the study of English.

Please submit a 200-word abstract to Snezha Tsoneva-Mathewson, Vitana Kostadinova and Yana Rowland at michael.grancharov.festschrift@gmail.com by 31st March 2016.

We expect completed essays of no more than 20,000 characters each, in MLA format (https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/01/) by 31st May 2016.

For further information please contact Vitana Kostadinova at vitana.kostadinova@gmail.com.
